Join Maine master carver Joshua Brewer at the Wendell Gilley Museum for this one-day class to learn the art of making a precise pattern for any bird you would like to carve. Carvers use patterns to guide their knife-cuts when carving birds from wood. While there are many books of patterns available, this class allows you to customize the look for your carving. Space is limited and reservations are required. All tools and materials will be provided.

The Wendell Gilley Museum will be closing at 2pm on Thursday, Aug. 6 to facilitate Flight of Swallows, our annual wine-tasting fundraiser at The Neighborhood House.

Paint by the sea in Acadia National Park with artist Erika Elizabeth at Seawall Picnic Area. Students will learn how to paint water, rocks, and trees to create their own watercolor landscape. Erika has a unique style of teaching that encourages watercolor students to play and experiment with their art. Students must be able to walk a short distance over rocks and carry their supplies and a chair/towel for sitting on. Materials are available with advance request – please ask for materials in the “Notes” field when you sign up. Paint a special birch forest, customized to your taste, in this fun Family Paint ‘n’ Sip. Artist Erika Elizabeth will guide students through a step-by-step process. All materials are provided along with seltzer, lemonade, and snacks. This family-friendly paint ‘n’ sip is suitable for all experience levels, and those age 6 and older. Space is limited, and preregistration is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
